Rub-a-dub-dub...

...my girls in a tub!

Gardening

Gardening is a slow but rewarding activity. This year we took the time to grow our plants from a seed and have transplanted them to the garden. It is fun to see all the time we have put into our garden as we watch the produce grow and produce fruit. It has been a spiritual reminder that the little ones that are also growing will prayerfully one day bear much fruit, and that my labor is not in vain (although some days when I am teaching the same lesson over and over it seems like it is!) I pray for my girls daily and have cherished the moments when I see my child's heart soften towards loving others, or asking forgiveness even before I intervene. God is good and is doing good things in my life and in the lives of my girls.

Threefold Father's Day

Jeff is a great dad to my lovely little girls, and there is nothing that he enjoys more than spending a day at the beach. Unfortunately it was a rather windy cool day at the beach when we went for Father's Day, but that did not stop Hannah or Kate from running in and out of the waves. Rachel Lee preferred to dig and became quite the little sand monkey. We were also able to have a nice BBQ with Roger and Cindy. I was busy making food and a lemon meringue pie so Jeff was left in charge of the camera and he captured some sweet moments, but none with Grandpa Roger... We also celebrated at a little lunch with my dad. We went to Red Robin and enjoy just being together as a family. What a blessing these wonderful men are! And what a great year where we could celebrate each of them!

Maters for my Taters

Our garden is finally producing, but I have suspicions that it has been producing fruit for a while. I was in the garden the other day and mentioned that something must be eating our yellow tomatoes because before I picked any they were gone...Hannah began laughing and said, "Maybe that was ME!" Then the other day I finished vacuuming and saw this scene in the kitchen: > My Taters was helping herself to our maters and she said that Rachel Lee wanted some too so she would cut some for her. There is nothing as sweet as fresh tomatoes rip off the vine! Now if only I could have one... >

Jam Time

I used to make strawberry jam with my mom and sisters. We would wash, de-top, mash and cook the strawberries together. When I saw these strawberries on sale 3 pounds for $2.97 I couldn't resist making jam with my girls, so I bought 15 pounds of strawberries. It was a little over the top, but the strawberries were all used up within the week...my girls are impressive strawberry eaters! And now we have strawberry jam that we can enjoy all year...YUM!

Rachel's Words

Rachel Lee has very clear words at 17 months (and quickly approaching 18!) Here she is being coached by me: My favorite is when she says to me, "No, ma" which can either be "No, mom" or "No more" depending on the situation. I love hearing her words and understanding what she is wanting, although even when she doesn't have the words she has her own way of communicating what she wants!

Kindergarten Bound

The school year is over, and Hannah is headed for Kindergarten. We are still not sure where that will be (please pray for us as we decide!) but we had a great time celebrating the year at preschool. Here are some beginning of preschool and end of preschool collages: Can you believe the difference? We got a new door, so the knob is different as well as the square panels on the door, but just facially the girls all look older and more kids like, except Rachel Lee who is still so much my baby. I just love this picture of Hannah say, "Woo-hoo!" I love her enthusiasm! And of course, we started the year with a morning Starbucks run, so we had to end the year with one too. Only Rachel Lee was old enough now that she actually wanted some Vanilla Milk as well...maybe she is more kid like than I would like to admit... What a great year it has been, and we are excited and looking forward to another year filled with fun and learning! And guess who is headed to preschool next year...I'll give you a hint:
