A Visit for Papa and Mimi

Papa and Mimi drove up from Fresno for my cousin's, Kelley, graduation from PA school. While they were in town they stayed with us for 2 nights and we had a very fun time. The girls loved playing games, going to the farmer's market, and walking and hiking with them. It was a great time and we hope that sometime in the future it will happen again!!

While visiting the Bruton family, we went to a tasty restaurant, wandered around at Peir 39, saw some seal, and looked at Alcatraz. I think next time we will have to ferry over to the island and take a tour of the prison!

The thing about San Fransisco that Jeff and I have discovered is that people tend to visit! YAY! We were able to spend a day with Jeff's aunt and uncle and this cousins and his cousins kids...the girls loved seeing Connor, and we loved getting to be in the city. My parents were visiting so they came along to and were able to experience so of SF's finest wind!

A Kitchen Island

My folks came up for the weekend and helped Jeff and I put in some cabinets. It took slightly longer than I thought it would, and at one point I was worried that it might not be completed within the time frame that my parents would be in town, but Jeff was more than capable, and with my parents expertise it looks great!! After our work was done, two workers came Monday morning to install the granite countertop. They worked forr 2 hours cutting and installing the top, and now our island is a destination that all want to visit...

Tracking Grandpa Roger

Grandpa Roger is taking a dream trip: a sailing trip from San Pedro to Hawaii, then aroung the Hawaiian islands, and finally back to Pedro. Jeff and the girls have been tracking his progress to Hawaii, and he made it in exactly the time that frame that he thought he would.

Kate's class did a unit in social studies about community workers, and then parents were invited to come and talk about their jobs. Jeff went in and showed the kiddos his lab coat, his goggles and a few lab supplies that he uses on a daily basis. It was great to see Kate smiling proudly when he walked in and it was great to see Jeff sharing his passion for science with the future generation of scientist and community workers.

Last Track Meet

We love watching the run, but it is nice to be done with the season. One thing I learned: track meets are very long. Way to go girls! Here is to many years of running!

Tea and Terraiums

One thing that has helped us settle in to life here has been the families we are beginning to know. God has really helped us make some friends rather quickly. He knew we would need people around us, and I can see friends that He has blessed each one of us with. To celebrate how God has formed friendships I wanted to have some ladies over and make terrariums together. Now, I don't drink tea, but it seems to flow nicely to say tea and terrariums, so I set the day and these lovely ladies came. And not that I have favorites, but this gal in particular is a gift from God. I randomly met her at the library, she invited my whole my and me over to her house one Sunday afternoon after church, and our families really get along well. She is also from Fresno and happens to know 2 of my cousins! How random, right? But what makes her stand out is her generous heart, her compassion and her willingness to listen and serve. She brought cookies over the day the moving truck came and helped me mark off all the items as they unloaded the truck. She watches RL for me a time or two so I could have some free time, and the meals she has given us...I could list on and on...but I will stop by saying she is truly a gift from God!
