Closing Ceremony

Softball is officially D-O-N-E!! It's been a fun season, especially since the girls are on the same team. But I'm done. Ready for a break. It's been real...its been fun...its been real fun!

Happy playing with Dad...

See Jane Run

On Saturday the girls and I ran in a race called See Jane Run. I ran with Jennifer and the girls ran with Olivia. We all enjoyed our treats at the end of the race...champagne and chocolate for me and chocolate milk and Luna bars for the girls. It was Rachel Lee's first race and she ran the entire mile!! Kate was also behind Hannah (in the lead) and Olivia (second) but at the end of the race Kate kicked it in and she finished before both older girls!! YAY! So proud of her! All my girls ran hard and had a great time.

Garden fresh from my minion

Our garden is finally producing some berries!! Ive tried for 3 years to get berries to grow and this year they took! Fresh berries this morning...YAY!

My sleeping babes...

Here they are, all snug in their beds...

...but the night did not go as peacefully as they now appear. Usually you find my girls in bed together, but tonight RL was being a "blanket hog" which led to arguing, which then led to everyone in their own beds. The worst punishment of all...banishment to sleeping ALONE! To make it worse, right before bed Hannah went to put the chickens In the coop to discover that Kate who "tried to keep the chickens dry" today on this partially cloudy morning that warmed up to a balmy 90 degrees, decided to keep them in the bottom of the coop but in doing so she made it so the chickens couldn't get their water. I thought she needed to learn how serious dehydration can be, so I reminded her of Mo, our Guinea pig, who died of dehydration. Right before bed I talk about a dead pet and implied it could have happened to our beloved chickens. Sweet dreams! Sheesh. That's good parenting, right? Sigh...what was I thinking? So with Kate upset, RL being a blanket hog and arguing bedtime tonight was rough. But here they are, sleeping soundly in a warm, blanketed bed with not a care. And tomorrow us a new day with new mercies. So tonight I drink in their sweetness.
