Potty Battles
Lately RL has not wanted to go to the bathroom, which has resulted in some accidents. Ugh. So, to help her be successful I have forced potty breaks...times when I MAKE her go to the bathroom. And let's just say that RL does not like to be made to do anything. There is some protesting, along the way to the bathroom, which climaxes with screams and fusses on the toilet. It's not pretty, and sometimes it gets really messy.
So this morning at one of the potty breaks I said to her, "Well Rachel Lee, when was the last time you went potty?" And she responded, "Saturday." I started just laughing...how ridiculous was I that asked her to know and tell me a time, "Mom, I went potty about an hour ago" and how precious was it that she gave me a day of the week! Unfortunately today is Tuesday, so, according to her, the last time she went potty was 3 days ago so I felt totally validated in making her sit until she was successful going potty in the toilet. And she was.

Hair Cuts
Hannah has been begging for a hair cut for a few weeks. So, with Spring break and a little extra time I cut her hair. She loved her hair, and everyone noticed the cut, which prompted Kate wanting a hair cut...something I have been putting off since 1. I love Kate's curls and 2. Kate's hair grows really slowly. But, she really wanted a haircut, and so I obliged...here the girls are sporting their new dos!

This girl and water...
I thought Kate loved water, but it turns out that Kate simply liked water. This girl, my Rachel Lee, she LOVES water. She asks and wants to play with water so often that I thought I would give her an overdose of water play...turns out, I overdosed on cleaning up water play before she overdosed on water play. Fortunately for her, living in San Diego lends itself to water play year round.
Easter Part 3: Arizona with the Williams
Our dear friends, Tim and Emily Williams, welcomed their second child into their family 5 months ago. We have been wanting to see baby Madeline, so while Hannah was on Spring Break, Jeff took a day off from work and we headed out to Arizona for Easter.
We had a great time with the Williams, walking around, playing at the park, and hiking in the desert to enjoy some wild flowers. It was in the high 80's so the girls were quite hot, even though in Arizona high 80's is pretty mild...YIKES!
These two toddlers got along really well!
Madeline was such a happy and easy going baby. I think we might have heard her cry once...and only once...seriously!
The whole kid crew!
Starting our hike
Reaching for an egg high in the trees...it was a fun egg hunt for sure, and even after hunting there was still one egg missing...hmmmm...

Easter Part 2: Party with Friends
We love parties with friends, so when we were invited to a egg dying and hunting party we were happy to join in some fun! The party was complete with sugar cookie decorating to make sure that the girls got the proper overdose of sugar to keep them wired so that naps were out of the question. But, all in all, it was a great time and always fun to get together with friends!
Easter Part 1: Kate's Preschool
Easter was composed of many celebrations this year, with some time of reflection and remembrance on Easter morning with our fun and yet meaningful Resurrection Eggs.
Our first celebration was with Kate's preschool. Her preschool had jumpers, face painting, snow cones, games, popcorn and of course an egg hunt. It was a lot of fun, and the girls had a blast. The party may have glossed over the true meaning of Easter, but it served the purpose of good family fun.
The jumper was a HUGE hit with the girls. Hannah loved posing as she went down, Kate quickly figured out that she needed to hold her dress down or it would fly up and cover her eyes, and Rachel Lee just flew down with her dress in her face each and every time. I never got tired watching them zoom down. Good times, for sure!
