Aunt Sarah

I think Aunt Sarah is pretty cool. Much cooler than mom Sarah. As an Aunt I get to enjoy my nieces and nephew, without worrying how they behave (and I have to be honest here, my nieces and nephews are very well-behaved kiddos). I saw Joe and Kara this weekend play their soccer games, and it was great! They are both such gifted athletes!!
Kara on a water break...isn't she beautiful?!?

Joe playing hard!

Joe posing for me. He's such a goof ball! :)
Hannah and Kate wanted to play soccer too just like Joe and Kara. One day...

Flip flops

I bought Hannah a cheap pair of flip flops. She loved them. It gave her freedom to take off her shoes easily and whenever she wanted, which Jeff and I tolerated, but never liked.

As we were driving home yesterday Hannah wanted her window down so I rolled it down and within minutes she was screaming. "My shoe! My flip flop! Help!!" She had dropped her shoe out of the window was desperate to stop the car and look for her shoe. Kate was falling asleep, the street was a four lane road with a speed limit of 50 MPH, and the shoe cost $4. So despite her pleas and cries, we did not stop.

She cried and cried the whole way home, and then threw herself to the floor asking to go look for her shoe. I needed her to calm down before her nap so I called Jeff and asked him to look for the shoe on his bike ride home. She then talked to Jeff and calmed down, took an awesome three hour nap (probably due to her intense pre-nap crying fit), and the first thing she said was "Dadde get my flip flop?" Jeff did look, but did not find the shoe.

Lessons learned:
1. Don't put things out of the window.
2. Don't roll a kid's window down so far they can put something out of it.

What was I thinkin??

Daddy Time

Jeff went to a conference in Palm Springs and has been gone since Thursday. Tack this trip on top of our vacation last weekend and you have some kiddos that sorely missed their daddy! Kate kept pointing at Jeff's bike and saying, "Bye-bye da-da" and Hannah began to throw tantrums (which pre-kid I swore my kids would never do, as if parents allows or wants their kids to throw tantrums...how naive and jugemental I was!). Both girls and I are so happy to have Jeff home, and today we joined him for lunch at his work. Hannah was so excited on the way there and kept saying, "I show my dadde my yellow necklicks" or "I tell my dadde I paint." Lunch was fun, and as we drove home Hannah told me, "No home with you. I work too." She clearly loves her daddy.

A Weekend Away

Jeff and I spent our first night away from the kids. In fact, it was the first trip we have had in three years, before my pregnancy with Hannah. We didn't go far, we were only 30 mins away in downtown San Diego, just in case things weren't going well with the kiddos. But, all was well and we had a great trip. When I asked Jeff what his favorite part was he said, "Being able to have a conversation with you without interruptions." My favorite part was when he said that. What a great husband I have, and it was so fun to spend time with him!!

Breakfast...Baked apple pancakes...it was like apple pie for breakfast. YUM!!
Driving Jeff's dad's BMW and so excited to have his picture taken!
A walk on the beach.
Hanging out by the pool overlooking the water.

The only dole moment on our trip...pun planned and intended!
A night in the Gaslamp Quarter...great food, fun shops and lively people.

We are so grateful that Cindy and Roger took such great care of Hannah and Kate. Although Kate is happy to have me back, Hannah keeps asking, "Where my grandma go?"

Mama Elp Me!!!!

"Ma-ma elp ME!!!!" is what Hannah just cried out after 30 minutes of silence during her nap time. It was followed by screams which made me run to her room (if you are a parent you know the difference between naptime screams you ignore and ones you don't, and this was a scream you don't ignore). A very panicked Hannah tells me, "Umthin in my NOZ! Elp mama." I took her to the bathroom, looked in her nose and couldn't see anything (and from the panic in her screams I thought something had crawled up her nose and I envisioned going to the ER and having them pull out this huge spider..that was really how panicked she was, and how paranoid I am). I got a flashlight and saw something that could have been a big boogie, so I asked her if she had a boogie or if she knew what was in her nose. She replied, "Tickur on my toes den pud it in my noz." "What?!?" I said, "You found a sticker on your toe so you put it in your nose?" "Yup!" she confirmed, proud that I understood her, and not realizing how ridiculous it is to put stickers, especially one on your toe, in your nose! I plugged one nostril, had her blow her nose a few times and sure enough...out came the "tickur" that was bothering her. My Hannah. How much I love her!! No pictures of the incident, but here are some popsicle moments from yesterday...
